Let’s be honest, VAs are masters at taking on almost every job you can throw at them. We are multi-taskers with a wide pool of skills, so there are very few things we can’t do. So when it comes to taking on work for your business, there aren’t many limits to what you can ask us for.
But. And this is a big but. There are a few ground rules around what’s NOT covered in the cost of working with a VA. You see, your price for jobs will be carefully worked out based on what you need and the time we think it will take. And because we work with a lot of different clients, that time is precious. So to save you some stress (and us some hassle), we wanted to share some of the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of hiring your own VA.
Having ‘A Chat’
Don’t get us wrong – we love a good chinwag. And of course at the beginning of the process we need to sit down with you and really get to grips with you and your business, and how you want things to work. And we’re never going to just not answer the phone if you need to talk about something. We don’t mean the general, 5 minute catch up and ask a few questions about your business kind of chat. We mean the hour long coffee talks, the brainstorming and bouncing ideas chats. The kind that start out as a half hour meeting, and then you blink and it’s 3 hours later. Unfortunately, they don’t come included in your price. We are happy to do that if that’s what you need, but you will be charged to cover the extra time. It’s only fair, right?
Instant Turnarounds
As VAs we can work miracles if we put our minds to it. But instant turnarounds is something we can very rarely pull off. So if you need work doing the same day, you might be out a of luck. The reason for this is simple – we are not your in-house PA, and we don’t just work for you. We’re juggling work for multiple clients at a time, as well as client meetings and the admin for our own businesses, all of which takes a lot of time management. This means each day is often carefully planned out to meet our various deadlines, and there’s not a lot of room for last-minute extras. We can do quick turnarounds with a day or so’s notice, but same-day? Not much of a chance there.
Not Working With Us
The job of a VA is to work with you, not for you. This means we need you to put in some work as well. And let’s be honest, it isn’t usually much! Depending on what you’ve asked us to do, that could be anything from responding to the odd email from us to clarify a response (if we’re managing your emails, for example), to putting aside some time to review documents we send you in a timely manner, so that if you do want changes made, we have time to do it. Bringing a VA into your business is a partnership, and if we’re having to spend a lot of extra time running back and forth because you’re not working with us, you might not get a bigger bill, but there will be some words exchanged.
At Your Admin Hub, we want to make sure your business, and your life, and working in balance, and you’re getting the most from all of it. We love helping busy business owners realign their life by taking all of those niggly little admin jobs off your hands. And don’t get us wrong – we can do all of the things we mentioned above – it just might cost you a bit more at the end of the day! If you would like to find out more about our services, please just get in touch with us today.
